Shuttles and Buses from Budapest Airport

Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) is well connected to the city of Budapest by bus. Passengers can choose between two public bus lines and the official airport shuttle service, miniBUD.

A direct airport bus (100E) connects the airport with downtown Budapest, while Bus 200E links the airport to the Kőbánya-Kispest Metro Station, where passengers can transfer to the Blue Metro Line (M3). Additionally, miniBUD provides door-to-door shuttle services.

The Public Budapest Airport Buses

The two public bus lines are the cheapest transfer options from Budapest Airport to the city.

Bus Line 100E runs directly from Terminal 2 to Deák Ferenc tér, right in the heart of Budapest. Deák Ferenc tér is one of the city’s main transport hubs and a very popular area.

Bus Line 200E is not direct, but it connects the airport with Kőbánya-Kispest Station, the terminus of Metro Line M3. From there, passengers can easily continue to the city center by metro.

Public Bus Timetable from Budapest Airport

The direct Bus 100E departs every 10–15 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes at night. It operates 24/7, seven days a week. The journey to Deák Ferenc tér takes around 45 minutes, though it may be longer during peak traffic hours.

Bus 100E makes only three stops: Kálvin tér, Astoria, and Deák Ferenc tér. Thanks to its limited stops, it is the fastest and most comfortable public bus option.

Bus 200E also runs 24/7. From 03:45 am to 11:04 pm on weekdays and from 03:20 am to 11:04 pm on weekends and public holidays, it travels to Kőbánya-Kispest Station in about 25 minutes, making several intermediate stops. From there, Metro Line M3 reaches the city center in approximately 17 minutes.

During night hours (11:05 pm – 03:44 am on weekdays and 11:05 pm – 03:19 am on weekends), Bus 200E terminates at Határ út Station. Passengers must then transfer to Bus Lines 914, 914A, 950, or 950A to reach central Budapest.

Where Are the Bus Stops at Budapest Airport?

The bus stops for both Bus 100E and Bus 200E are located outside Terminal 2, between the T2A and T2B sections, on the Arrivals level.

Bus Tickets from Budapest Airport

Bus Line 100E requires a special airport shuttle ticket. Standard public transport tickets and passes are not valid on this line.

The airport shuttle ticket costs 2200 HUF (5.60€ / 6.21$) and must be validated upon boarding. Tickets can be purchased via the BKK mobile app, onboard using a bank card through Budapest Pay&Go machines, or from ticket machines and BKK counters at the airport.

Bus Line 200E uses standard public transport tickets. A single ticket costs 450 HUF (1.15€ / 1.27$). An additional metro ticket is required to reach the city center, bringing the total cost to 900 HUF (2.29€ / 2.54$).

Alternatively, passengers can purchase a 30-minute ticket, which allows unlimited travel on buses, metro, and HÉV suburban trains within 30 minutes. This ticket costs 530 HUF (1.35€ / 1.50$) and is available only in digital form. It must be validated each time a new vehicle is boarded.

Children under 6 years of age travel free of charge.

Travelcards offering unlimited public transport for multiple days are also available. These cards do not require validation, are personal, and can be purchased at the tourist information desks in the Arrivals areas of Terminal 2A and 2B.
